The Road to Headstand:
A Shoulder and Core Strengthening Practice to Guide You Upside Down
When: Sunday June 28, 2015 from 2:30-4:30
Cost: Free for Members, $25 for Non-Members
When we commit to a regular yoga practice, we start to see that yoga is a systematic approach that builds strength and flexibility in the body and mind. With continued practice, new possibilities begin to arise, such as safely turning upside down to see the world from a new perspective.
Sirsasana, headstand, is a pose known for it’s ability to reduce the effects of aging, build mental focus, counter the effects of depression and improve circulation in the body. But don’t let the name fool you! Headstand is a full body pose that uses the strength of the shoulders, core muscles and legs. This workshop will include an introduction to the anatomy of headstand, a yoga practice that builds up your muscle strength to prepare you for the pose, and clear instruction on how to float up into headstand with grace and ease. Headstand is a beautiful inversion to learn that builds one’s calm, focused attention. Take this opportunity to learn what some call “The King of Poses.”
